Gas line replacement work is continuing in Fanwood, working in the northeast quadrant roughly bounded by Martine Ave. and Westfield Rd., Woodland and Portland Avenues (see map linked below). On the streets that are marked red, Elizabethtown Gas will be replacing the main that runs the length of that street, then running new service lines from the main to each individual home. In the process, gas meters will be moved from inside homes to outside.
Streets will be dug up and in some cases, an area of residents’ front lawns will also be disturbed. When the work is finished, all lawns will be restored and streets will be repaved curb to curb. Similar work has already been completed in the southern quadrants of Fanwood.
