The Carriage House Poetry Series and Tiferet Journal invite the public to take a break from the hustle and bustle of this festive season to attend a special holiday reading and reception in celebration of Tiferet’s 2016 print issue launch. The free event will take place on Saturday, December 17 from 3-5 p.m. in the Kuran Arts Center on Watson Road.

The featured readers will include, Cat Doty (Boonton, NJ), Nancy Lubarsky (Cranford, NJ), John McDermott (Cranford, NJ), Priscilla Orr (Hamburg, NJ), Bob Rosenbloom (Bound Brook, NJ), Basil Rouskas (Long Valley, NJ), and Donna Baier Stein (Bernardsville, NJ). Adele Kenny (Fanwood’s Poet Laureate, Tiferet’s Poetry Editor, and the Carriage House Series Director) will emcee.

John McDermott’s poem, “Census 2016,” is published in this issue and was the 2016 Carriage House Poetry Prize winner (contest sponsored by the Fanwood Shade Tree Commission and the Carriage House Series).

Founding publisher Donna Baier Stein established Tiferet twelve years ago and the journal is both nationally and internationally known for the high quality of the literature it publishes. Authors who have appeared in Tiferet over the years include, among numerous others, Robert Pinsky (three-term U.S. Poet Laureate), Charles Simic (Pulitzer Prize), Gerald Stern (Wallace Stevens Award), Mark Doty (National Book Award), Dorianne Laux (Paterson Prize), Maria Mazziotti Gillan (American Book Award), and BJ Ward (Pushcart Prize).

A reception and refreshments will follow the featured reading, and the afternoon will conclude with an open mic. All who attend are invited to bring poems of their own to read.
