The National Weather Service predicts a snow storm tonight into Friday bringing 3 to 4 inches of accumulation. Residents are asked to remove all vehicles from roadways to assist the Public Works Department in keeping the roads clear and to ensure the safe passage of emergency vehicles. Any vehicle found not moved 48 hours after the snowfall will be considered abandoned and may be ticketed. Any vehicle found to be impeding the flow of traffic will be towed.
Due to unforeseen operational issues because of the spike in COVID cases, the Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority (PMUA) has informed the Borough that today’s (1/6) recycling pickup will be postponed until Saturday, January 8th. Please DO NOT leave your container at the curb tonight. Please place the recycling bin at the curb after snow removal on the street is complete. You may also place the bin at the end of your driveway.
Residents should also ensure that they do not shovel or blow their snow back into the roadway after it has been plowed as this creates a hazardous condition.
Borough Code 259-22 states that residents shall remove all snow and ice from any sidewalk in front of their property within 12 hours of daylight after the snow has fallen or formed.
Always call 911 in the event of an emergency. Thanks for your help and stay safe.
