Fanwood is ready to roll out the Red, White and Blue for Memorial Day.  Fanwood’s festivities include our official ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 27, at the Fanwood Memorial Library. Join Mayor Colleen Mahr, members of the Fanwood Borough Council, local veterans groups and our police, fire and rescue squad personnel as we remember those who gave their lives and those who continue to sacrifice for our country today in the armed services.

After our ceremony of remembrance, please join your neighbors and friends for the Memorial Day Parade. Beginning at 10:45 a.m., the procession will start in downtown Scotch Plains and make its way into Fanwood on Martine Avenue to LaGrande Park. This year’s Grand Marshals are Fanwood veterans Joseph Schott and Joseph Murano; both of whom served in World War II. Mr. Schott and Mr. Murano will also be honored at the May 26 Memorial Day Concert at the Alan Augustine Park in Scotch Plains at 6:30 p.m. Bring your own folding chair and listen to patriotic music as well as pay tribute to fallen and living war veterans.

The Borough of Fanwood would like to recognize our residents who are currently serving with a service flag. If your family member is on active duty, you may request a flag by emailing mayor@fanwoodnj.org or by calling 908-322-8236, extension 121. Bring your folding chair and come out early to get your spot along the parade route. Be ready for a day full of sun, festivities, and fun. We’ll see you there!
